Huron Pines AmeriCorps (Northern MI)
We are now accepting applications for Huron Pines AmeriCorps positions! If you are interested in conservation, want to make a difference, and develop your professional skills, consider joining the Huron Pines AmeriCorps team.
Huron Pines AmeriCorps is designed to provide northern Michigan conservation organizations with highly qualified individuals for a term of volunteer service. The program not only improves a conservation organization’s ability to protect Michigan’s natural resources, but it also provides members with real-world experience and training. With a living stipend and some attractive benefits, this program provides an opportunity to develop as a resource professional in the conservation community. AmeriCorps members will be placed in northern Michigan with a variety of organizations. Departments Available: Achieve, Career Center, Prisoner Reentry, Resource Navigation, Technology, Training, Supportive Employment, and Youth Services.
Members serve both in teams and individually through national and community-based private and public organizations. Members help solve community problems through direct and indirect service in the areas of education, public safety, environment, employment training and other human needs such as health and housing.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids AmeriCorps members expand and enhance Goodwill services by providing support to program participants through job skills and employability training, and job readiness services such as assistance preparing for, finding, and keeping a job. Members also assist with identifying and obtaining needed resources and supports.
Experience working with individuals with barriers to employment is desired, but not required. Efficiency with Microsoft Office, the ability to identify and develop resources, and experience conducting classroom instruction or one-one-one tutoring are beneficial. Spanish speaking skills are a plus, and a desire to have a positive impact on the community is a must!
Qualifications & Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 17 years old and a U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident alien of the U.S., and a high school graduate or GED recipient.
