The Pollution Prevention Act:
This act gives the Michigan Department of Agriculture the authority and funding mechanism to fully implement the Michigan Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) agreement signed by the Governor in 2000.
Gives the MDA the authority to issue certificates to producers who have completed the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP).
Creates the Agriculture Pollution Prevention Fund to provide a funding mechanism for education, technical assistance and financial incentives to farmers and other land owners who implement conservation and pollution prevention practices.
