Agriculture Pollution Prevention Act

The Pollution Prevention Act:
This act gives the Michigan Department of Agriculture the authority and funding mechanism to fully implement the Michigan Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) agreement signed by the Governor in 2000.

  • Gives the MDA the authority to issue certificates to producers who have completed the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP).
  • Creates the Agriculture Pollution Prevention Fund to provide a funding mechanism for education, technical assistance and financial incentives to farmers and other land owners who implement conservation and pollution prevention practices.
