Composting in Michigan

"Putting Nature Back Where it Belongs"

Composting is nature's way of recycling.  It's the rich, crumbly soil that results from the decomposition of organic material like leaves, grass, even kitchen scraps.   There's nothing better to enrich the soil from your garden.

More and more farmers, like Michigan's Bob Wackernagle,  are using compost to enrich the soil of their cropland.  If you are a farmer, find out where you can get more information about using this age-old technique for soil enrichment.

Composting helps you and the environment.  It reduces the amount of trash going into landfills, conserves water, and replaces the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture supports composting through the Michigan Compost Council.
