Large Quanity Water Withdrawal

As of July 9, 2009, all persons proposing to install a new, or increase capacity in an existing, large quantity water withdrawal must first consult the Michigan Water Withdrawal Assessment Tool.  A large quantity withdrawal is one with the capacity to pump 100,000 gallons of water per day (70 gpm).  The tool will aid you in determining the potential of your withdrawal to cause an Adverse Resource Impact.  Once you have made this determination and/or, if needed, sought a site specific review from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, you may register your new withdrawal.  Please proceed to www.miwwat.org ( http ://www.miwwat.org/ ) to access the tool and appropriate forms.
