Food Security for Regulators

Food security has been defined as actions taken to protect the food supply from intentional contamination.  The Homeland Security Strategy identified "food and agriculture" as a critical infrastructure of our nation. Incapacitation or destruction of this infrastructure would render devastating effects upon our country.  MDA works with local health departments, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, universities and industry to protect the safety of our food supply.
