General Information
This packet was developed to provide information on how to license a riding stable. Copies of applicable state laws are included via links to alert you to Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) requirements concerning equine issues as well as regulations governing the MDA in its oversight of riding stables.
Application Procedure
To license a riding stable for operation:
- Download and review the License Application.
- Familiarize yourself with the laws and regulations applicable to riding stables (see below).
- Complete the application and submit it to Michigan Department of Agriculture, PO Box 30017, Lansing, MI 48909, along with the $100 fee ($50 for renewal) made out to State of Michigan.
- An MDA Inspector will then contact you and visit the stable to conduct a pre-licensing inspection.
- After your application has been approved and processed, and a satisfactory pre-licensing inspection has been completed and filed in the Lansing office, a riding stable license will be issued.
- After receiving the license, you may then conduct business as a licensed Michigan riding stable.
