Turfgrass and Golf Courses

When out on the green, the idea is to get a small ball to roll to or land on a specific spot on the ground. One of the factors to your success is the type of ground covering; or simply the grass or more specifically turf grass.

There are many different types of turf grasses but certain varieties lend desired qualities to specific areas of the course. As well, different grasses grow better in different regions.

For example, in places like Michigan that have a cooler climate, golf courses are planted with Bentgrass. These types of grasses can be mown very low and still keep a high density with fine texture.  Most of the tee areas on Michigan's courses are planted with Bentgrass but the roughs and fairways are covered with Bluegrass and the hazards hold Rough Bluegrass and general ground cover.
