| Wild or Exotic Animals Not Regulated by DNR or U.S. Department of Interior

A wild or exotic animal not regulated by the Fish and Wildlife Service of the United States Department of the Interior or the Michigan Department of Natural Resources shall comply with all of the following:
- A wild or exotic animal imported into this state shall be accompanied by an official interstate health certificate or official certificate of veterinary inspection signed by an accredited veterinarian from the state of origin.
- A wild or exotic animal imported into this state shall receive housing, feeding, restraining, and care that is approved by the Director.
- A wild or exotic animal may be required to have negative test results to specific official tests required by the Director within a determined time frame prior to importation.
- A person shall NOT import or release live FERAL SWINE or any crosses of feral swine in this state.
- A person shall NOT import or release live SAN JUAN RABBITS in this state.
- Effective June 13, 2003 per the State Veterinarian, the following six (6) exotic rodents shall not be imported into Michigan:
- African rope squirrels
- African tree squirrels
- African (Gambian) Giant pouched rats
- African Brush tailed porcupine
- African dormice
- African striped mice
- American prairie dogs shall not be imported into Michigan.
