    Introduction

    • Animal Health Information The Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) protects the health of domestic animals, livestock and pets through its licensing and inspection programs. Livestock dealers and saleyards, rendering plants, animal feed establishments, animal shelters, dog pounds, pet shops, riding stables and research facilities are licensed and routinely inspected by MDA. The state's licensing and inspection programs are intended to protect Michigan residents from communicable diseases and food safety concerns.
