Dairy and/or Breeding (Includes Beef-type)

1. Cattle of all ages imported into Michigan shall be accompanied by an interstate health certificate or certificate of veterinary inspection, or if consigned directly to slaughter, by an owner-shipper statement or sales invoice.
   


2. Each animal must be individually uniquely identified by an USDA-approved ear tag (includes bangs tags), tattoo, brand or registration number from an official breed registry.
   
   
3. BRUCELLOSIS - All female cattle over 19 months of age that are official brucellosis calfhood vaccinated, and female cattle and bulls over six months of age that are not official brucellosis calfhood vaccinated, must meet one of the following:
   
   
   1. Originate directly from a certified brucellosis-free herd, or
      
   
   
   2. Originate directly from a state that has maintained, for the previous six consecutive years prior to importation, certified brucellosis class free state status, or
      
   
   
   3. Test negative to an official brucellosis test within 30 days prior to importation.
   
   
   
   
4. BOVINE TB -
   TB Free State or Zone - no testing required.
   
   Modified Accredited Advanced Zone (MAAZ) - Michigan supports the federal order issued April 15, 2010, which suspends enforcement of 9 CFR 77.10 in modified accredited advanced States or zones if the State was previously classified as accredited free (all states within the United States have previously been classified as accredited free).
   
   As of 05/01/2010, all cattle coming from California, New Mexico, and the MAAZ portion of Minnesota may enter Michigan without TB testing.
   
   Modified Accredited State or Zone (MAZ) - Any cattle of any age can move without TB testing if they come from a TB accredited free herd.
   
   If not from a TB accredited free herd - Sexually intact cattle of any age must originate from a herd that has had a whole herd test within the previous 12 months and have a negative TB test within 60 days prior to importation.
   
   Steers and spayed heifers must have a negative TB test 60 days prior to movement, but are not required to come from a herd that has had a whole herd test.
   
   
5. Female cattle imported into Michigan for embryo transplant must meet the requirements listed above.
