FDA's Recommended National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards

Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) is currently working to meet these voluntary national food safety standards.  Michigan's local health departments are also encouraged to enroll and work towards meeting these standards.  The information provided is intended to assist agencies through this process.  Please phone MDA at 800.292.3939 for additional assistance as needed.

Process Summary

Enrollment Agencies are automatically enrolled under the standards in place at time of enrollment.
Self-assessment with 36 months of enrollment 
every 36 months 
Audit standards met within 3 years of self-assessment  Agencies are audited against the standards under which they enrolled.
