Submitting Samples for Animal Disease Testing

Serum samples (one ml minimum) are best collected in serum separator tubes and spun prior to shipment. This avoids problems due to seasonal temperature extremes. If serum is submitted, no preservative is needed. However, if whole blood is submitted during the summer, it is best to ship the samples with a cold pack. U.S. mail and UPS are both acceptable.

Please make sure all appropriate paperwork is completely filled out and signed to avoid delays in processing.

Mail sample to:

Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development
Laboratory Division
1615 S. Harrison

East Lansing, MI 48823

Samples can also be dropped off Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30p.m. at the above address.
