Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI)

These four part-time and two full time positions are funded by five grant agreements with Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) funds. Four of the grants provide incentives for more conservation practices via incentive payments. Two of the four use an auction approach and the remaining two set criteria and definite which conservation practices can be funded in the target watershed. The technicians do work similar to a MAEAP technician and assist farmers to reduce environmental risks through risk assessments and implementing conservation practices that enable farms to become MAEAP verified through a MDARD inspection, showing that they have met MAEAP Standards.
