Introduction

Any person importing animals into the state of Michigan is required to comply with all of the statutory and regulatory provisions of the State of Michigan relating to animal health outlined in the following laws:

• Animal Industry Act: Public Act 466 of 1988, as amended 
  Requirements for importing animals into Michigan.
• Dog Law: Public Act 339 of 1919, as amended
  An Act relating to dogs and the protection of livestock and poultry from damage by dogs; providing for the licensing of dogs; regulating the keeping of dogs.
• Pseudorabies and Swine Brucelosis Control and Eradication Act: Public Act 239 of 1992
  An Act to establish a control and eradication program for pseudorabies and swine brucellosis.
• The Ferret Act: Public Act 358 of 1994 
  Legalized and controls the sale and breeding of ferrets.
• Ferret Advisory issued June 9, 2011
• Michigan Aquaculture Development: Act 199, PA of 1996
  An Act to define, develop, and regulate aquaculture as an agricultural enterprise in this state.
