•  Work Readiness Credential
Untitled Document Untitled Document

In June 2007, two of CLEG's standing committees were combined into an ad hoc working group charged with investigating whether Michigan should implement a statewide work readiness credential. The Work Readiness Credential Committee, comprised of the Accelerating Re-employment and Increasing Educational Attainment committees, were asked to evaluate efforts in other states that are creating credentialing systems, determine whether Michigan employers would embrace a statewide work readiness credential system, develop a concrete plan, including system design and implementation, and make a recommendation to the Governor on whether Michigan should put into action such a system.

A proposal, based on six months of research and analysis by the committee, was presented and approved by the full Council in December 2007. In response to the recommendations in the proposal, a work group has been convened to explore the feasibility of statewide implementation.
