Performance Contracting

Michigan statute PA 122 of 1987 provides the legislative authorization to employ multi-year, performance contracts to maximize the implementation of cost-effective, energy efficiency measures in state-owned buildings. The Energy Office and DMB Acquisition Services assists state agencies with the performance contracting process.

The following chart summarizes the energy performance contracts that the State of Michigan has awarded to increase the energy efficiency of state facilities.  Total investment exceeds $17 million and estimated cost savings is expected to exceed $22 million.  The first contract was entered into during 1989.  The last contract listed will end in 2010.
