Program Overview                     
The program focuses on primary prevention interventions through evidenced-based policy and environmental changes (PEC). MI Healthy Communities is supported and funded through the State of Michigan, the Healthy Michigan Fund, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Obesity, and Tobacco, and Healthy Communities Grants, and Michigan State University Extension Michigan Nutrition Network Grant.  

The MI Healthy Communities program is comprised of several nationally recommended initiatives:

  • Building Healthy Communities Grant Project
  • Michigan Nutrition Network MDCH-Local Advisory Group Project
  • Complete Streets Policy Initiative
  • Safe Routes to School Program
