Romeo Physician Has License Summarily Suspended

Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

June 13, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the osteopathic medicine and surgery license of Larry C. White, D.O., based on his felony conviction in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

On November 6, 2007, White, 67, was convicted of Illegal Distribution of Schedule 2 Controlled Substances, a felony. As a result, White was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release with terms, and was ordered to pay a fine and an assessment fee totaling $51,000.00.

On June 2, 2008, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending White's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of White's osteopathic medicine license.
