NCLEX Examination
To become licensed in Michigan, an applicant must apply for a license with the Bureau of Health Professions and register to take the NCLEX with Pearson Professional Testing (PPT). An application for licensure may be requested by email at bhpinfo@michigan.gov or by calling (517) 335-0918. At the prompt, press 2. At the main list of choices, press 1. Wait for a voice, then press 1 again. The applicant should respond at the prompts with name, address, telephone number and ask for the nurse licensure packet. If you only want information about the test, request only the NCLEX Bulletin. Additional information about the test is available at www.ncsbn.org.
Applicants for the NCLEX may register for the test by mail, telephone or on the Internet. Registration by mail requires completion of the registration form and payment in the form of a certified check, cashier's check or money order. You can register by calling PPT at 1-866-496-2539. Online registration is available on the Internet at www.vue.com/nclex. Payment can be made with a credit card for telephone and online registrations only.
Upon receipt of a licensure application and supporting documents, the Bureau of Health Professions will review the application. If the application is complete, the Bureau of Health Professions will notify PPT. PPT will then send an Authorization to Test (ATT) that is valid for 90 days and a list of participating testing sites. The applicant will then contact the testing site to schedule an appointment to take the test. If the applicant fails to appear at the scheduled date and time or if the test is not taken within the 90-day validity period specified on the ATT, the applicant will be required to register with PPT again and pay another registration fee.
Test results will be released approximately four weeks from your test date. If you pass, you will receive your license. If you fail, you will need to reapply for the test with PPT.
