Long Term Care Innovative Design Supplemental Program

Thank you for your interest in the Long Term Care Facility Innovative Design Supplemental Program.

The Facility Innovative Design Supplement was developed to encourage the rehabilitation of Michigan's aging nursing home infrastructure and to utilize the newest standards of design and operation for the construction of new facilities. Participating facilities are required to meet the Michigan design standards, allocate beds according to the FIDS standards, and introduce a culture change model for their staff and residents. Participating facilities are granted an increase in daily Medicaid rate for resulting beds during a brief period intended to partially compensate the costs of these improvements.

The application process for Rounds One and Two is complete and no further applications are being accepted.

The Division of Nursing Home Monitoring always encourages facilities to review the latest design standards and to seek culture change projects to improve their residents' quality of life.
