Some facilities do not have the e-mail capacity to receive large documents. Therefore, future BHS alerts and clarifications sent to facilities that are notifications of new/revised documents will not have the documents attached separately. Documents will now have a link attached to the underlined name that directly connects to the item. This decreases the amount of memory needed to transmit information. Checking the online revision date of a form/publication on the Bureau of Health Systems' website (http://www.michigan.gov/bhs) before using is the best way to ensure the use of the most up-to-date documents in case word of a change did not reach the appropriate staff.
NOTE: Our Bureau shares online space with the Bureau of Health Professions at the present time. The left hand column of the main Bureau page has categories such as Forms, Publications, etc. that link to that area. Choose either "Health Systems" or "Health Facilities" depending on the choice given to move to the correct section.
A revision is underway to create a more "user-friendly" area for nursing homes. The main web page will soon sport a new look with links by topic. The left-hand column of the main BHS page now has a category called "Health Care Facilities and Programs." This category has a drop-down list with a button for "Nursing Homes & Long Term Care Units." This link takes you to a page divided into categories of information for consumers, general information and provider information.
The Quality Improvement Nurse Consultation Program has been given their own button and will not appear on this page much longer.
Check back frequently as new items are being added.
