The nonmammography patient exposure graphs on the Radiation Safety Section website have been updated to include data from 2000 through 2004, and the mammography dose graph has been updated to data from 2004. Nonmammography inspection frequency is about every 5 years, and mammography facilities are inspected annually.
For the first time, we have separated digital systems from screen film systems on the nondental patient exposures. The graphs show distributions of digital exposures and screen film exposures on the same graph. The number of digital systems is very low compared to screen film but is expected to increase.
The dental bitewing graphs now include D speed, E speed, and F speed film on one graph, rather than separate graphs as in the past. The digital dental bitewing graph still remains a separate graph and it is not separated out by x-ray tube potential.
