Improving Supports and Services for People Served by the Public Mental Health System

Application for Renewal and Recommitment:
This document is being sent to the 18 Pre-paid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs) with response due date of June 1, 2009. It calls for the PIHPs to perform environmental scans and develp plans for improvements in the quality and appropriateness of care of individuals with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders who are served in the public mental health system.

Program Policy Guidelines:
This document is being sent to the 46 community mental health services programs (CMHSPs) to obtain baseline information from them on several key policy areas: children's system of care, improving quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities, using the Recovery Enhancing Environment measure for adults with serious mental illness, and improving access to self-determination arrangements, fiscal intermediaries, and independent facilitation of person-centered planning. The information is due back to MDCH March 16, 2009.
