In January 2011, Governor Rick Snyder appointed Olga Dazzo Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health.

Dazzo's career is proof that improving the health of citizens and the health care delivery system are attainable goals. She brings to the MDCH a record of building innovative, fact-driven programs that create positive change for people, health care providers and communities.

Dazzo believes a healthier Michigan will be a more successful and prosperous Michigan. She will lead MDCH's work to improve health, health care, and access to health care while lowering costs. Every Michigander has a stake in this effort, and Dazzo looks forward to working with a variety of partners - including Michigan residents - to achieve these goals.

Dazzo joined MDCH from Health Reform Innovations where, as President and CEO, she helped health care organizations chart a course toward improved services and lower costs in the midst of national challenges and reforms.

From 2007-2010 Dazzo served as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Jackson Health Plans at Jackson Health Systems in Miami, Florida. While in Miami, she led the development of new product lines, expanded coverage for underserved populations, and extended provider networks, while creating system-wide efficiencies.

For more than 10 years Dazzo was President and CEO of Physicians Health Plan (PHP), an affiliate of Sparrow Health System. Under her leadership PHP was consistently ranked among the best health plans in the nation in customer satisfaction. U.S. News & World Report also recognized PHP as one of the top 100 health plans in America.

In 2002 Dazzo received the Ellis J. Bonner Outstanding Achievement Award from the Michigan Association of Health Plans for exemplary service in health care innovation.

Dazzo served as a trustee for Ferris State University from 1998-2006. She also has served as a board member for many organizations, including the Lansing Capital Area United Way, the Lansing Latino Health Alliance, and the Capital Area Health Alliance Business Coalition.

Dazzo received a BA degree in Accounting and MBA in Finance from Michigan State University.
