MISSION
The Michigan Arthritis Collaborative Partnership is a broad-based, statewide alliance that leverages member resources and expertise to effectively reduce the impact of arthritis and related conditions.

VISION
The MACP is a dynamic and diverse alliance recognized for providing innovation and leadership dedicated to reducing the impact of arthritis and related conditions for all people in Michigan.

VISION PRIORITIES – By 2011, we will have...
Vision Priority 1: Expanded our "reach" in program participation.
Vision Priority 2: Expanded awareness of the impact of arthritis and arthritis related conditions.
Vision Priority 3: Created a sustainable structure for our partnership.
Vision Priority 4: Filled in the gap in quality of and access to health care professionals/providers.
Vision Priority 5: Increased policy support for arthritis.
Vision Priority 6: Secured sustainable and adequate financial resources.

Workgroups have been established to address the 2007-2011 Michigan Arthritis Strategic Plan Vision Priorities. The workgroups are:

  • Advocacy/Social Marketing – to expand awareness of arthritis and arthritis-related conditions and increase policy support for arthritis.
  • Interventions – to expand program reach and secure sustainable resources.
  • Professional/Provider Education – to close the gap to health care providers.

The MACP, established in 2001, has successfully worked with partners and stakeholders to build capacity, expand awareness, and increase the reach of programs proven to benefit people with arthritis.

Examples of this success include: Michigan Partners on the PATH (Personal Action Toward Health), Michigan's statewide implementation of the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program; the MACP and Michigan Coalition for Bone Health Annual Bone and Joint Health Conference that routinely draws more than 100 attendees and; a strategic alliance with the YMCA to expand reach of the physical activity program Enhance Fitness.

The overarching focus of the MACP is to engage people with arthritis in CDC-endorsed evidence-based programs.
