Consensus Reports

heart button The CVH Section has been working with the EMS and Trauma Section to improve emergency response to cardiovascular emergencies.  Michigan EMS CVD Assessment and Quality Improvement Initiative .   A final report, summarizes the activities and accomplishments in the 3 year CDC grant focusing on assessment of the EMS system for CVD emergencies and interventions designed to improve EMS care to acute CVD patients in Michigan.

heart button A report, Impact of Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young in Michigan , led by the MDCH Genomics Section with support from the Cardiovascular Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity Section, summarizing data in Michigan for cardiac deaths of unknown cause in populations under age 40.  This report includes surveillance data as well as symposium and small group work to identify opportunities for prevention.

heart button  The Michigan data: 2010 Heart Disease and Stroke Surveillance Update.  Epidemiology update in a power point presentation on CVD mortality & morbidity.

heart button An MDCH publication on the Impact of Heart Disease and Stroke in Michigan: 2008 Report on Surveillance , provides a comprehensive report on cardiovascular disease (CVD), heart disease, coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, risk factors associated with CVD and some of the resources/facilities of interest in reducing and controlling CVD in Michigan. This publication is the product of the Michigan Cardiovascular Alliance, Chronic Disease Epidemiology Section and the Cardiovascular Health, Nutrition and Physicial Activity Section and will inform the strategic planning that will begin in September to identify priority initiatives in the state to reduce the burden of CVD in Michigan.    

 
heart button  A Vision for Michigan: A Strategic Plan for Heart Disease & Stroke 2009-2014    is the new five year strategic plan developed by the Michigan Cardiovascular Alliance and the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Unit at the Michigan Department of Community Health. This plan focuses on secondary prevention strategies that address six priorities set by CDC. This report as well as the two-page  Executive Summary can be downloaded and copied, or contact Jill Scott Gregus  to request a hard copy of the plan. June 2009

  • A  one-page summary on how the strategic plan was developed and how community groups, healthcare organizations, researchers, worksites, and other stakeholders can use it to guide program implementation.

heart button  2011 CVD Fact Sheet . This fact sheet highlights Michigan's ranking for cardiovascular disease, heart disease, and stroke as well as cost estimates for specific diseases.

heart button  2011 Stroke Brief . This is a surveillance report focusing on stroke hospitalization, mortality, risk factor data, awareness of signs and symptoms of stroke and emergency action as well as a summary of the Michigan Stroke Registry Quality Improvement Project.

heart button  High Blood Pressure and Actions Used to Control It Among Michigan Adults: Michigan BRFS Surveillance Report   provides an overview of high blood pressure in Michigan adults and what strategies are being taken by individuals to control it, based on self-reported data.

Michigan Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Brief  This surveillance brief describes the prevalence of fast food consumption and related behaviors between fast food consumption and obesity.
