New Substance Abuse Treatment Publications From SAMHSA's Knowledge Application Program (KAP)

The Next Step Toward a Better Life (brochure) (SMA10-4474)

For people who are undergoing detoxification or about to leave detoxification services, this brochure provides information on what to expect following detoxification and encourages the reader to enter substance abuse treatment after detoxification.

The brochure is presented in two parts: the first focuses on the first 30 days following detoxification and helps the reader develop strategies for avoiding the use of drugs and alcohol, while the second is about longer term recovery and guides the reader in setting goals, making better decisions, managing time and relationships, and recognizing and preventing relapse.
