The MCH Epidemiology Section

MCH epidemiologists usually work in close collaboration with members of maternal and child health programs. At the Michigan Department of Community Health, MCH epidemiologist are assigned to one or more programs in the department. MCH Epidemiology Section Manager

Violanda Grigorescu, MD, MSPH (acting)

 

This position serves as the section manager for the MCH Epidemiology Section.  The individual in this position will administer ongoing activities that provide epidemiologic evidence for the development, implementation, and evaluation of public health MCH programs.  This position provides management of budgets, resources, and staff assigned to MCH projects.

Birth Defects/EHDI Epidemiologist

 

 

This position provides epidemiological support to the Department of Community Health, the Bureau of Epidemiology, and the Bureau of Family, Maternal, and Child Health on all epidemiological matters concerning the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program and the Birth Defects (BD) programs. This includes data management, surveillance, epidemiologic study design and planning, statistical analysis, policy and program development, program evaluation, technical expertise and training. This position will play a key role in evaluating the EHDI and BD programs performance and priorities as well as improving the collection and data use, obtaining funding to conduct such activities, and fostering active collaboration with other maternal and child health organizations.

Oral Health/CSHCS Epidemiologist

This position provides epidemiological support to the Department of Community Health, the Bureau of Epidemiology, and the Bureau of Family, Maternal, and Child Health on all epidemiologic matters concerning the Oral Health and the Children's Special Health Care Services (CHSCS) programs. This includes data management, surveillance, epidemiologic study design and planning, statistical analysis, policy and program development, program evaluation, technical expertise and training. This position will play a key role in the ongoing development of the cerebral palsy registry; and developing, coordinating, and maintaining the Michigan oral health surveillance system (monitors oral disease, access to oral health care, special populations who experience higher rates of oral disease, and the capacity of the oral health workforce to provide care to both special populations and the general population).

PRAMS Coordinator/Epidemiologist

 

 

This position provides administrative and epidemiological support to the Department of Community Health, the Bureau of Epidemiology on all epidemiologic matters concerning the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS).  This includes: questionnaire development, data management, surveillance, epidemiologic study design and planning, statistical analysis, policy and program development, program evaluation, technical expertise and training.  This position will play a key role in improving the use of PRAMS, obtaining funding to conduct such activities, and fostering active collaboration with other maternal child health programs.

Newborn Screening Epidemiologist

WIC Epidemiologist

 

This position provides epidemiological support to the Department of Community Health, the Bureau of Epidemiology, and the Bureau for Family, Maternal, and Child Health on epidemiological matters concerning the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).  This includes epidemiological study design and planning, statistical analysis, policy and program development, program evaluation, technical expertise and training.  This position will play an important role in identifying and then advising on the epidemiological priorities in collaboration with program staff, conducting such activities, and fostering active collaboration with other maternal child health programs as well as other MCH epidemiologists.
