
The mission of the Microbiology Section is to detect and identify infectious diseases of public health importance as well as to assist other laboratorians in Michigan in the identification of bacteria, fungi, and parasites associated with human disease.

The Microbiology laboratory at the Michigan Department of Community Health is composed of three Units. These Units are the Enterics/STD/Chromatography Unit, the Reference Bacteriology Unit and the Mycobacteriology/Mycology Unit. Testing available in each Unit is listed under the appropriate Unit heading. Some tests require prior approval or are performed by special request as noted. Unit contacts are also included with appropriate phone numbers and email addresses.
