The mission of the Virology Section is to protect the health of the people of Michigan by performing accurate and timely testing for illnesses of public health importance. This is accomplished by trained professionals using the best available techniques and procedures.

The Virology laboratory at the Michigan Department of Community Health is dedicated to accurate, confidential testing in each of its three Units. These Units are Bacterial and Parasitic Serology, HIVand Viral Serology/Viral Isolation/Viral Molecular. Testing available in each Unit is listed under the appropriate Unit heading. Tests requiring prior approval or special request are denoted by italics.
