II. Summary of 2007 Enterovirus Season
In 2007, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) Bureau of Laboratories confirmed only 5 enterovirus isolates. There is a downward trend of specimens submitted for enterovirus culture, from 79 year to date in 2003 to 21 in 2006 (26 in 2007). Of those 26 samples received this year, the lab was able to isolate an enterovirus in 5. The age distribution on these 5 confirmed cases was from 8 weeks old to 23 years. III. Summary of Enterovirus Data by Georgaphic Location
The data shown here are the results obtained by the MDCH Viral Isolation Laboratory from submitted isolates plus enterovirus isolates recovered from clinical specimens submitted by agencies or physicians in the state.
Data for the year of 2007.
This season, the MDCH lab received 26 specimens for enterovirus isolation/typing, 21 of which grew no virus.
