The Trace Metals Section specializes in quality analysis of body fluids and environmental samples for a variety of trace metal contaminants, and has the capabilities to analyze human tissues. Both flame and graphite furnace Atomic Absorption plus Inductively Coupled Plasma/ Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS) instrumentation are used in these analyses. The lab offers analytical services to the Lead Hazard Remediation Program and the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. All samples are submitted through state, county and federally funded partner submitters.
The Trace Metals Lab performs the following analyses.
- Blood samples for Lead
- Environmental samples (dust wipe, paint and soil) for Lead
- Urine and blood samples for mercury - Urine panel of metals
- Other metals in clinical specimens are also available if arranged
