An Information Exchange Program Evaluation: Canadians Enrolled on EpiX in 2007

GLBHI and Ontario have partnered in this first-of-its-kind cross-border health surveillance exchange program. Run by the CDC, Epi-X collects health surveillance information from CDC officials, state and local health departments, poison control centers, and other public health professionals and redistributes the information to all interested parties quickly and securely. Epi-X participants can also be actively notified of breaking health events as they occur. Select public health officials from Ontario have been signed onto Epi-X for nearly one year.

This report summarizes a survey presented to the Canadian participants regarding the exchange's helpfulness and potential.

GLBHI members from the US are expected to be added to the Canadian equivalent of Epi-X, CIOSC, shortly.
