Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
You can't see it, smell it, or taste it. But it can make you sick and it can kill you.
My name is Janet Olszewski and I am the Director of the
Michigan Department of Community Health.
Carbon monoxide poisoning causes a headache, dizziness,
confusion, fatigue, and nausea.
Furnaces, kerosene heaters or generators in your home
produce carbon monoxide. And in a matter of minutes,
deadly fumes can develop in enclosed spaces.
To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, buy and install a
monitoring system in your home. Have your heating system
checked by a professional every fall, and pay attention to any
symptoms that may result from poisoning.
