| Michigan Department of Community Health Director Janet Olszewski discusses techniques for detecting and treating cervical cancer |
Transcript:
Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
- Cervical cancer is a serious disease. In fact, about 3,700
women die each year from it.
- My name is Janet Olszewski and I am the Director of the
Michigan Department of Community Health.
- January is cervical cancer awareness month.
- Most cervical cancers are slow growing and develop over a
long period of time.
- To detect any abnormalities that may lead to cancer of the
cervix, we recommend that you get a Pap test at least once
every three years.
- For more information on cervical cancer and scheduling a
Pap test talk with your doctor or visit our Web site at
www.michigan.gov/mdch.
