<p>Cervical Cancer Awareness Month</p> <p><ul><li>Cervical cancer is a serious disease. In fact, about 3,700 women die each year from it. </li> <li>My name is Janet Olszewski and I am the Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health.</li> <li>January is cervical cancer awareness month.</li> <li>Most cervical cancers are slow growing and develop over a long period of time.</li> <li>To detect any abnormalities that may lead to cancer of the cervix, we recommend that you get a Pap test at least once every three years.</li> <li>For more information on cervical cancer and scheduling a Pap test talk with your doctor or visit our Web site at www.michigan.gov/mdch.</li></ul></p> Michigan Department of Community Health Director Janet Olszewski discusses techniques for detecting and treating cervical cancer
