March 11, 2005 The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the licensed practical nurse license of Deanna Marie Rinz, L.P.N. based on her felony conviction in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court, Saginaw County, Michigan.

On December 14, 2003, Rinz was convicted of Possession Controlled Substance – Non-Narcotic, a felony. As a result, Rinz was sentenced to serve 225 days in jail with credit for 239 days, was ordered to pay $120.00 in costs, and was placed on probation for 36 months with terms.

On March 26, 2004, Rinz’s original sentence was amended based on her subsequent violation of the terms of probation and for testing positive for cocaine. As a result, Rinz was sentenced to 16 to 24 months in prison and ordered to pay assessments in the amount of $210.00.

On February 24, 2005, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Rinz’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional’s license upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Rinz’s license.
