The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the registered nurse license and specialty certification as a registered nurse anesthetist of Wayne F. Poland, R.N., C.R.N.A. The MDCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public’s health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.

On January 21, 2005, Poland’s license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Arkansas was revoked. The Arkansas action was based, in part, on Poland’s failure to appear for a trial regarding criminal charges against him of 40 counts of Rape and at least 20 counts of Possessing Child Pornography.

On April 26, 2005, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Poland’s nursing license and nurse anesthetist specialty certification. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Poland’s license and specialty certification.
