The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the nursing license of James Jay Dillenbeck, R.N., due to his felony conviction in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
Dillenbeck failed to report his conviction to DCH as required by the Public Health Code. On August 14, 2003, Dillenbeck was convicted of Malicious Destruction of Fire or Police Property for destroying the window of a Kalamazoo police cruiser.
Dillenbeck was sentenced to 120 days in jail, and placed on probation for two years. On February 11, 2004, DCH issued an order summarily suspending Dillenbeck’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony.
An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address that status of Dillenbeck’s nursing license.
More information about disciplinary actions taken by the health professional licensing boards is available on the DCH website at: http://www.michigan.gov/mdch, then select the Health Systems and Licensing link.
