The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the nursing license of Aaron Kenyon Nesbitt, R.N., due to his convictions at a court martial proceeding at the United States Army Maneuver Support Center and Fort Leonard Wood in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

On January 13, 2004, Nesbitt was convicted on one count of Larceny of a Controlled Substance and three counts of Wrongful Use, Possession, and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Nesbitt was sentenced to eleven months incarceration.

Upon completion of his prison term, Nesbitt will be discharged from the United States Army. On April 7, 2004, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Nesbitt’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon a the conviction of a misdemeanor involving the illegal delivery, possession or use of a controlled substance.

An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Nesbitt’s registered nurse license.
