The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the medical license of John D. Franks, M.D., due to his felony convictions in the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court, Iosco County, Michigan.
On March 8, 2004, Franks pled no contest to Criminal Sexual Conduct-4th Degree and Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct-2nd Degree. Franks was sentenced to 11 months in jail, placed on probation for a period of five years, and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling $1,740.00.
On August 20, 2004, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Franks’ license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Franks’ medical license.
