Get free breast and cervical cancer screening exams?
The Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) provides free breast and cervical cancer screening services (such as clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap tests, and pelvic exams) to eligible women aged 40-64.
If a breast and/or cervical abnormality is identified from the screening test/exam, BCCCP clients will be referred to community providers for diagnostic follow-up. Over 75 diagnostic services are provided free of cost through the BCCC program.
Some of these include:
- Diagnostic mammograms
- Ultrasounds
- Breast Biopsy
- Colposcopy services
- Colposcopy-directed biopsy services
- Medical Consultations
- Selected anesthesia services
Although the BCCCP doesn't pay for cancer treatment services, women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer through the program may be eligible to apply for Medicaid coverage. They will receive Medicaid coverage as long as they are undergoing treatment for breast or cervical cancer.
Women throughout Michigan may seek these services from over 700 contracted BCCCP providers across the state. Services are also available through tribal health clinics of seven federally recognized Indian tribes. To learn more about the BCCCP and to determine if you are eligible for the program, please call 1-800-922-MAMM.
