Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Prevents Certain Types of Cancer
The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Vaccine can prevent cervical cancer and many other cancers in women AND men. What if you could protect your child from getting cancer in the future? You can. The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Vaccine can prevent cervical cancer and many other cancers in women AND men. It's most effective if given at the age of 11 or 12, but can be given up to age 26. Most men and women will contract HPV in their lifetime. You can make sure your child is not one of them. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/HPV.
Breast Density and Breast Cancer Screening
The Michigan Cancer Consortium (MCC) Breast Cancer Advisory Committee convened a workgroup of committee members to discuss impacts, from a scientific standpoint, of screening recommendations for women with dense breasts. The group developed a fact sheet,” Frequently Asked Questions about Breast Density and Breast Cancer Risk” and proposed that it, along with a patient brochure, “Breast Density, Breast Cancer Screening” published by the American College of Radiology, be made available to MCC members, other professional organizations, and healthcare providers.
