Michigan Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking (MCRUD)
The goal of MCRUD is to develop and provide support to statewide coalitions and community groups working to address the issue of underage alcohol use. As of 2007, there are twenty-one local groups throughout the state that identify themselves as "Regional MCRUD Coalitions."
MCRUD is a program of Prevention Network (PN), based in Lansing, Michigan. It is administered by Prevention Network, Inc., with funding provided by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Michigan Office of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (OROSC), and the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP).
 
Town Hall Meetings on Underage Drinking Prevention
Underage Drinking Town Hall Meetings are being held during the months of March and April 2012, nationwide and in many communities across Michigan. To find information about local events in Michigan, see www.stopalcoholabuse.gov.

During the months of March and April 2010, almost 100 communities across Michigan joined a nationwide effort to host Town Hall Meetings in response to The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking. Through OROSC various Michigan specific resources have been compiled in conjunction with the Childhood and Underage Drinking Workgroup of the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) Advisory Committee, as well as Prevention Network (PN), and the Michigan Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking (MCRUD). These resources, available at www.mcrud.org, include ideas to increase attendance at your Town Hall Meeting through lessons learned from past hosts, potential talking points that can be used as part of your comments, Alcohol Awareness Month resources that include Michigan specific data, and information on parenting issues.
