During the months of March and April 2010, almost 100 communities across Michigan joined a nationwide effort to host Town Hall Meetings in response to The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking. See www.stopalcoholabuse.gov for information about events held in Michigan.

Through OROSC various Michigan specific resources have been compiled in conjunction with the Childhood and Underage Drinking Workgroup of the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) Advisory Committee, as well as Prevention Network (PN), and the Michigan Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking (MCRUD). These resources, available at www.mcrud.org, include ideas to increase attendance at your Town Hall Meeting through lessons learned from past hosts, potential talking points that can be used as part of your comments, Alcohol Awareness Month resources that include Michigan specific data, and information on parenting issues.

National resources are also available at www.stopalcoholabuse.gov.

Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) mission is to make alcoholic beverages available for consumption while protecting the consumer and the general public through regulation of those involved in the sale and distribution of alcohol beverage products.
