Bureau of Substance Abuse and Addiction Services |
 | Recovery, as defined by a Betty Ford Institute Consensus Panel, is "a voluntarily maintained lifestyle comprised of sobriety, personal health and socially responsible living." One of the goals of the Bureau of Substance Abuse & Addiction Services is to help people, with substance use disorders, enter into a state of long-term recovery. |
Recovery Outreach Survey
Do Latinos define recovery from drug or alcohol problems differently than other groups? Does a high school drop out student define recovery the same way a college graduate does? These are some of the questions that a nationwide "What is Recovery" research project hopes to answer with a completely anonymous online survey at http://www.whatisrecovery.org. The survey will be available online through October 31, 2012.

BSAAS is committed to developing a recovery oriented system of care (ROSC) in Michigan. As a result, we are initiating a process to engage stakeholders throughout the state, including people in recovery, family members, providers, and county administrators, in a dialogue to assist in creation of a shared vision to shape the future of Michigan's prevention and treatment system.
To lead the ROSC process in Michigan, BSAAS has formed a Transformation Steering Committee (TSC). See more information at the ROSC TSC Webpage. ROSC Newsletters and Fact Sheets to inform stakeholders are also available on the ROSC TSC Webpage.
