The Michigan Department of Community Health, Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI) is proud to announce:
The Newborn Hearing Screening On-Line Training is now live! Go to www.training.mihealth.org to access the course.
The goals of the course are to provide information on universal newborn hearing screening and to increase screener proficiency in all Michigan hospitals. Guidelines are given to accompany this on-line course with hands-on training. This course is especially important for nurses, hearing screeners and managers of newborn hearing screening programs.
The on-line course includes 8 modules:

The Ear and Hearing
Getting Ready to Screen
Newborn Hearing Screening Methods
Risk Indicators
Communicating Hearing Screen Results
Completing the Screening Process
Program Management
2.0 Nurse Contact Hours are available for those Nurses and LPN's that successfully complete all of the modules with an 80% passing score on the post assessment.
This continuing nursing education activity has been awarded 2.0 nurse contact hours by the Michigan Public Health Institute - Continuing Education Provider Unit (MPHI-CEPU). MPHI-CEPU (OH#320, 6/1/13) is an approved provider by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBn-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
