The Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program was established in 1991 to prevent hepatitis B transmission from pregnant women to their infants and household and sexual contacts. Prevention of perinatal hepatitis B
transmission requires the coordinated transfer of information between primary care providers, hospitals, laboratories, and the state and local health departments.

This manual was last updated in March 2012.
