Practice Sun Safety

Michigan Department of Community Health Director Janet Olszewski discusses the importance of practicing sun safety this summer.

Fun in the sun is always a summertime favorite, but make sure you take care of your skin.
My name is Janet Olszewski and I am the Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Over exposure to the sun can cause heat exhaustion, sunburn, skin cancer, and wrinkles.
There are ways to protect yourself from overexposure and still enjoy the warm weather.
If you are going to be in the sun, wear sun block, sunglasses with complete UV protection and hats to shield your face and eyes.
Also, relax in the shade and be sure to stay hydrated with plenty of water.
