Crime Victim Compensation

• About Crime Victim Compensation in Michigan
If you suffered physical injury from a violent crime, the Crime Victim Compensation Program might be able to help. The program helps pay out-of-pocket medical expenses, lost earnings, and funeral bills. It also provides reimbursement for grief counseling, crime scene clean-up or other financial assistance. The application process is simple. You can either mail or fax in your application. Victim compensation is awarded as a last resort - publicly or privately sponsored insurances and court ordered restitution must be paid first. It typically takes 8-10 weeks to determine eligibility.
