Bacterial and Parasitic Serology Unit

This unit offers serological tests to diagnose bacterial and parasitic infections such as syphilis, Lyme disease, legionellosis, and toxoplasmosis, as well as typing of pathologic strains of Legionella species.

TESTING PERFORMED WITHIN THIS UNIT:

 

The following tests are performed within the Bacterial and Parasitic Serology Unit at the Michigan Department of Community Health, Bureau of Laboratories.

  • Brucella Microagglutination Test (MAT)
  • Direct Antigen Detection including: Brucella spp., Francisella tularensis, Yersinia pestis, Coxiella burnetii.
  • Francisella Microagglutination Test (MAT)
  • Fungal Antibodies (Complement Fixation/Fungal Immunodiffusion)
  • Legionella DFA
  • Legionella HA
  • Lyme Disease EIA
  • Lyme Disease IFA
  • Lyme Disease Western Blot
  • Syphilis Antigen (DFA-TP) 
  • Syphilis Serology including: USR (=VDRL), TP-PA, FTA-ABS DS, VDRL- CSF and IgM Western Blot.
  • Tetanus EIA
  • Toxoplasma IgG
  • Toxoplasma IgM
