FAQ
  People With Disabilities
Do businesses have to provide parking for people with disabilities near their place of business?

Answer:
Yes, both the ADA and Michigan's Barrier Free Design Act of 1966 require "handicapper" parking at newly constructed facilities. The ADA also covers existing facilities and the ADA and BFD cover alterations to existing buildings. The ADA Accessibility Guidelines and the Michigan Construction Code spell out how many handicapper parking spaces have to be made available and the size of those parking spaces.
